"Dancer" Logan Circle, Washington DC
2025
DANCER, c.2025 Standing 10 feet tall and 5 feet wide, the aluminum sculpture titled DANCER by artist Victor Ekpuk serves as a vibrant landmark on 14th Street NW, designed to foster emotional connection and communal engagement within Washington D.C.’s Logan Circle neighborhood. By crafting aluminium with dynamic gestures and bold colors characteristic of Ekpuk’s unique visual language, the piece honors the area’s storied history while simultaneously reflecting the energetic, contemporary essence of the local culture. Ultimately, this towering installation transforms its urban corner into an inviting public space, bridging the gap between the community's rich heritage and its modern identity through the fluid expression of art. Commissioned by Logan Circle Community Association, supported by DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities Public Art Building Communities Program, Whitman-Walker with Fivesquares Development.
